About fertility and infertility

It is not unusual that a certain time will pass from the moment you start wanting to have a child and until you become pregnant.

We know that the period from the time you actively start trying to become pregnant and until you are pregnant depend on the age of the woman. The older the women, the longer the time before she gets pregnant. On an average, younger women will become pregnant sooner than women who have passed 35 years of age. Most couples with normally functioning sexual organs will achieve pregnancy within one year. If you have tried to become pregnant for more than one year without any result, we can start examining you for infertility.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that approximately 8-10% of all couples in the childbearing age experience some form of infertility problem. On a worldwide scale, this means that 50-80 million people suffer from infertility.

A number of circumstances can influence you possibility of achieving a pregnancy. Therefore, we examine you for relations as regards your life style, previous infections, your general health, the time between the ovulations, the functionality of the uterus and the uterine tubes, as well as the quality of the man’s sperm.
